Gono Odhikar Parishad issues ultimatum to EC

Gono Odhikar Parishad leaders yesterday issued an ultimatum to the Election Commission, demanding that their party be registered in the next seven days.

They warned of besieging the EC office if their demands were not met during this period.

A letter outlining their demands was submitted yesterday to the EC’s office in the capital’s Agargaon.

“If our demands are not met, we will not My News Bangladesht the march from the party office again. Instead, we will directly besiege the EC office,” Rashed Khan, general secretary of the party, told journalists after submitting the letter.

The letter was signed by the party’s president Nurul Haque Nur.

During this time, a party faction, led by Nur staged a sit-in at the Bangla Motor intersection for around an hour, protesting the EC decision to not register the party.
