Veteran journalist and trade union leader M Shahjahan Miah passed away at his Rampura residence yesterday, said family sources.
He died of old-age complications. He was 82.

He was also the former president of undivided Dhaka Union of Journalists and former secretary general of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists.
He also served as minister (press) at the Bangladesh embassy in Washington.
He left behind his wife, a daughter, two sons and a large number of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
The family sources said they are yet to decide his burial place and funeral details.
BSS board of directors, chairperson, managing director, chief editor, journalists and officials expressed deep condolence to the bereaved family members.
