The Supreme Court docket yesterday requested the Excessive Court docket to dispose in two weeks the rule that questioned the labour court docket order framing fees in opposition to Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus and three different officers of Grameen Telecom in a case filed over labour legislation violation.

The apex court docket mentioned the HC bench led by Justice SM Kuddus Zaman will maintain a listening to on the rule for its disposal.

A full bench of the Appellate Division of the SC headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique handed the order after disposing of two separate petitions filed by the state and the Inspection for Factories and Institutions Division difficult the HC rule.

Following a petition filed by Yunus, an HC bench led by Justice Md Ruhul Quddus on July 23 issued the rule asking the state to elucidate why the labour court docket order that framed fees in opposition to him and three others of Grameen Telecom within the case shouldn’t be scrapped.

Yunus is the chairman of Grameen Telecom whereas accused Ashraful Hasan is the managing director and Nur Jahan Begum and Mohammad Shahjahan are administrators.

On June 6, the labour court docket exempted Yunus from private look in the course of the trial.

On September 9, 2021, SM Arifuzzaman, a labour inspector (basic), filed the case with the court docket.

The court docket on October 12, 2021 granted bail to Yunus and others accused within the case.
