AL’s special extended meeting deferred to August 6

A special meeting of the ruling Awami League has been deferred for a week, said a press release of the party today.

The meeting which was scheduled to be held on July 30, will now be held at 10:30pm on August 6 at the AL President Sheikh Hasina’s official residence Gono Bhaban.

AL leaders and elected representatives down to the thana level will take part in the meeting called by the party chief. It will be the biggest meeting of AL leaders in recent times.

The AL press release signed by its Office Secretary Biplab Barua said, “The meeting will be attended by the members of AL’s national committee; central executive committee; advisory council; presidents and general secretaries of district, city, upazila, thana, and municipality units; party lawmakers; party-nominated chairmen of district councils and upazila parishads; AL-backed mayors of city corporations and municipalities; and presidents and general secretaries of AL’s front organisations.”

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader has asked the concerned leaders to participate in the meeting in time, added the release.
