Block roads and we’ll block your path: Quader warns BNP

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today warned that his party will stop the BNP if it tries to block roads at the entries to the capital by staging sit-ins.

Regarding the BNP’s tomorrow’s programmes, the AL leader said, “I have heard you [BNP] will block the roads. If you take positions at each entrances to Dhaka, we will block your path of movement. Don’t browbeat [us]. Our roots are deep.”

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, was addressing a “peace rally”, organised by Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League and Chhatra League, at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram national mosque today.

Alleging that the BNP has appointed lobbyists spending money, the AL general secretary said, “They wrote letters to the United Nations and the US ambassador through some lobbyists. How they have this audacity? They have smuggled thousands of crores of taka.”
