BNP leader dies after falling ill on way to Nayapaltan rally

A Narayanganj BNP leader died after falling ill on his way to the party’s grand rally at the capital’s Nayapaltan this afternoon.

The deceased, identified as 62-year-old Mahmudur Rahman, was a member of the convening committee of Narayanganj City unit BNP.

He along with leaders and activists from the district came to Dhaka to attend the rally.

As they were marching to Nayapaltan venue around 12:45pm, Mahmudur fell ill at Dainik Bangla intersection.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 1:15pm, the deceased’s elder brother Masud Rana told reporters at the hospital.

Mahmudur had been suffering from heart diseases for long, he said.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the body was kept in the hospital morgue.
