BNP yet to seek permission for sit-ins: DMP

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq has said BNP has not informed or taken permission from the DMP to hold any programme tomorrow.

Asked whether police will allow any programme , he told The My News tonight that people would not allow any disruption in traffic movement at the entries to the capital in name of political programmes.

“We work for the people. So, we will take steps if the people do not allow.”

In the afternoon, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced sit-ins at all entry points of Dhaka from 11:00am to 4:00pm tomorrow.

The BNP leader made the announcement from the party’s grand rally in front of its Nayapaltan headquarters to press home its one-point demand for polls under a non-party interim government.
