A Chhatra League leader was killed after falling from his motorcycle after being hit by a truck in Natore’s Singra Upazila. His girlfriend, who was on the motorcycle, was injured. The truck was seized after the accident, but the driver escaped. The accident took place on Sunday (September 24) around 8:30 pm in the Ningaine area of Chatardighi Union of the upazila.
The name of the killed Chhatra League leader is Abhi Rahman (20). The deceased is the son of Shaukat Ali of Thail village of Abhi Upazila. Singra Gol-e is a first-year graduate student of Afroz Govt. College. He was the by-law affairs secretary of the college branch of the Chhatra League.
Locals said that around 8:30 pm on Sunday night, Abhi was going to Natore on a motorcycle with his girlfriend Milu. When they reached Ningin area of Natore Bogra highway at around 9:30 PM, a truck from Natore hit them. In this, Abhi and his girlfriend Milo fell on the road and were seriously injured. At that time, the locals rescued them and quickly took them to the Singra Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty declared Abhi as dead. Abhi’s injured girlfriend Milu is being treated in hospital.
Inspector (Investigation) of Singra Police Station Rafiqul Islam said that Abhi was going from Singra to Natore town on a motorcycle with his girlfriend. A truck coming from the opposite direction hit their motorcycle in the Ninggoin area. Abhi fell on the spot and died on the spot. Chhatra League leader His girlfriend also got injured. When the locals came forward, the driver and the assistant left the truck and fled. His girlfriend was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. After the body was recovered, it was brought to the police station. The police seized the truck. Efforts are underway to nab the driver.
