The Sadar Upazila Administration has issued Section 144 at Sri Sri Rashik Roy Jiu Temple in Auliapur of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. The administration has taken this measure due to the tension between Sanatan Dharmablambi and Krishna devotees in ISKCON over Janmashtami Puja.

The order will remain in force from Tuesday (September 5) to Thursday (September 7) in the temple and surrounding areas. Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Belahet Hossain confirmed the matter.

Arunanshu Dutta Tito, President of the District Puja Celebration Committee, said that there has been a dispute between two sections of the Hindu community over the ownership of temple land for a long time. On September 18, 2009, Sanatan Dharmabalambi and ISKCON Panthists clashed over Durga Puja at Rashik Rai Jiu Temple. At that time, Phulbabu, the temple’s serviceman, was killed in the attack. Since then, the local administration has been issuing Section 144 during Durga Puja and other pujas in that temple.

Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila District Officer Belayet Hossain confirmed the issue of Section 144 in the Sri Sri Rashik Roy Jiu temple and said that there are several cases in the court regarding the temple. Section 144 has been issued to maintain law and order in the temple area.
