Corrupt Persons Of Any Party Should Be Brought Under The Law: President

President:He said this in a speech given at the National Theater Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on the occasion of ‘International Anti-Corruption Day 2023’.

According to Bass, he enjoined all concerned to discharge their duties with impartiality and professionalism to make the ACC a place of people’s trust and confidence. Calling for making the ACC a modern, professional and effective institution, he said that care should also be taken to ensure that no innocent person is victimized.

The President said, be energized by the spirit of the liberation war and continue to make all-out efforts in the service of the country and the people with patriotism, honesty and devotion.

Pointing out that the strategy of the corrupt has also changed along with the technological advancement in the current era of globalization, he said that maximum use of information technology should be ensured to prevent corruption. The President laid emphasis on higher training to improve the skills of the concerned officers and employees.

He expects that the ACC will play a leading role in the implementation of the Vision-2041, Centenary Development Plan Delta Plan-2100 and the creation of a corruption-free Bangladesh in the hope of building a golden Bangla of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The President said that the observance of the International Anti-Corruption Day will be beneficial only if the ACC can play a role in establishing justice by carrying out its duties with integrity and dedication.

“Corruption is not limited to Bangladesh, it is a global problem and no country in the world is completely free from its evil effects. Corruption creates disparities in society, hampering economic growth and development,” he noted.

The President said that if corruption is to be curbed, it should start from the family. Family and social education and religious sentiments can also play a positive role in preventing corruption.” He also urged for a comprehensive fight against corruption so that future generations can grow up in a corruption-free environment.

The former ACC commissioner recalled the events of the Padma Bridge scam as a commissioner in the Anti-Corruption Commission from 2011 to 2016 and said, “So I am happy with the success of the Anti-Corruption Commission, but I am saddened by the failure.

The President stressed the importance of everyone having a correct understanding of the law at the policy-making level of the ACC, and said that in addition to official and legal measures, public awareness should be raised at all levels of society to reduce corruption.
