A Dhaka court today again asked Criminal Investigation Department to submit by August 29 the probe report in a case filed over the death of Buet student Fardin Noor Parash in November last year.
Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider set the new date after CID failed to submit any probe report by today.
For all latest news, follow The My News’s Google News channel. On April 16, another Dhaka court ordered further investigation into the case after Fardin’s father filed a no-confidence petition against the DB report clearing Amatullah Bushra, an accused in the case, of murder charges.
In the petition, the victim’s father Kazi Nooruddin, also the complainant in the case, sought further investigation alleging that the investigation officer did not probe the case properly.
He also accused the IO of being biased in favour of the accused in the final report.
Bushra, who was granted bail on January 8, was present today.
Fardin, a third-year student of civil engineering, was found dead in the Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj on November 7 last year, three days after he went missing.
Detective Branch Inspector Yasin Shikder, also the investigation officer of the case, on February 6 submitted the final report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka.
In the report, the IO said Fardin died by suicide, which Fardin’s father said was impossible.
Rampura police arrested Bushra from her Banasree house in the capital on November 10 last year after Fardin’s father filed a murder case with Rampura Police Station.
She was sent to jail on November 16 after her bail petition was rejected following the completion of her five-day remand.
After conducting an investigation for over a month, the DB and Rab on December 11 said Fardin died by suicide after jumping off a bridge into the river.
The following day, DB chief Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said they did not find Bushra’s involvement in the incident.
Bushra walked out of the Kashimpur Women’s Central Jail on January 10 this year, exactly two months after her arrest.
