Fire in two covered vans-cocktail explosion in Gazipur.Miscreants burst cocktails and set fire to two covered vans in Gazipur. Two fire service units brought the fire under control.Miscreants set fire to two covered vans on Dhaka Bypass Highway in Jhajar area of Gazipur City Corporation around 6:30 am on Thursday morning.

According to fire service and local sources, 14-15 miscreants stopped the movement of two covered vans used in garment factory in Jhajar area of City Corporation around 6:30 am on Thursday. At one point, they threw petrol on two cars and detonated cocktail bombs and fled. Later, when the nearby people rushed and informed the fire service, two units of Joydevpur fire service went to the spot and brought the fire under control after trying for half an hour.

Covered van driver Khademul Islam said, I was going to Narayanganj by car from Kashimpur. At around 6:30, miscreants along with 7-8 motorcycles stopped my covered van. When I stopped the car, they threw bricks and broke the front glass of the car. At one point they poured petrol and set it on fire and fled. The broken glass cut my hand.

Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service, Abdullah Al Arefin, said that two fire service units arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control after half an hour. The front of two covered vans were gutted in the fire but no one was injured.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gacha Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP). Shah Alam said that in the morning someone set fire to two covered vans and escaped. Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. Necessary legal action will be taken against the guilty after investigation.
