Gaza is becoming a kid cemetery:UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed concern that Gaza is becoming a graveyard for children.He also commented on the urgent need for a humanitarian ceasefire in the deteriorating situation in the besieged Palestinian Valley.
At a press conference at the United Nations in New York on Monday, the UN Secretary-General said the Gaza nightmare is more than a humanitarian crisis. This is a crisis of humanity. At the time, Guterres announced that the United Nations and its partners would launch a $1.2 billion humanitarian appeal to help the people of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Guterres called for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, stressing the importance of protecting civilians. He said that no party to an armed conflict is above international humanitarian law. The ongoing conflict has ‘shaken the world’ and destroyed many innocent lives.
