Stealing skeletons from graves is their profession. Low risk, high profit. So they have been stealing skeletons for a long time. Each skeleton sells from 6 thousand 500 taka to 7 thousand 500 taka.

The stolen skeletons are sold in various places including Rangpur, Dhaka. From behind the scenes, a big gang also provides accommodation and meals to these thieves in luxury hotels.

Dinajpur police gave this information after arresting five people involved in skeleton theft with the help of locals. The arrested are Lalchan, Abdus Sobhan, Sheikh Farid of Nakla upazila of Sherpur district, Serajul Islam and Delwar Hossain Babu of Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh district.

Birganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Khodadad Hossain said in a press conference at Birganj police station on Monday (August 28) that the age of those arrested is between 25 and 30 years. They have chosen to steal skeletons as a profession.

Police say that they used to travel to Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts to steal skeletons. Divided into 2/3 groups, the gang had been stealing skeletons for quite some time. During the day, he would stay in a luxury hotel in Rangpur and steal in the dark of night.

Under the guidance of Dinajpur Superintendent of Police Iftekhar Ahmed, the gang members were arrested with the help of locals during the theft of skeletons at the Chowdhuryhat cemetery in Birganj late on Sunday (August 27). All those arrested have confessed their involvement in stealing the skeletons.

Birganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Khodadad Hossain also said that on Monday they were sent to the court through the case.

There is a big circle behind the scenes. That circle is kept under surveillance. Soon the original owners will be brought to justice with the theft of skeletons.
