Police today arrested the supervisor of the bus which plunged into a roadside waterbody killing 17 people in Jhalakathi Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The arrestee, Foysal Mizan, 30, of Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi, was held from the Rajapur area of the same district, police said in a press release issued tonight.
He was later handed over to Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station.
Earlier on Sunday, Jhalakathi Sadar Police Station Sub-Inspector Shusankar Sarkar filed a case against three people, including the bus driver Mohon, 40, supervisor Mizan, 30, and helper Akas, 17.
At least 23 others were injured when the Barishal-bound bus of Bashar Smriti Paribahan plunged into a roadside waterbody on Saturday morning.
Jhalakathi district administration has formed a five-member committee to investigate the incident.
