Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajib Wazed Joy and his advisor on information and communication technology raised a major complaint against Canada. He said on microblogging site X on Wednesday that Canada is a safe haven for murderers and terrorists and Nazis. At the time, he added a link to a report by the Indian media OpIndia with this comment.
The headline of the report published on September 23 said, “The way Canada is protecting Noor Chowdhury, the murderer of the founder of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”. X shared it and captioned it, Canada is a safe haven for Murderers and Terrorists and Nazis.
India and Russia have made similar accusations against Canada in recent times. The relationship between India and Canada has reached rock bottom due to the killing of pro-Khalistan Sikh leader Hardeep Singh. Canada blamed India for the murder. In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi called Canada a safe haven for terrorists.
And last Friday, Canada’s parliament honored a Nazi soldier, causing widespread criticism around the world. Russia has asked Canada for an explanation for the incident. Canada has been widely accused of promoting Nazism on social media. Canadian Speaker Anthony Rota was forced to resign in that incident.
