LGED engineer killed 3 injured as UNO car fell into ditch.Abu Saeed (33), Pirganj Upazila Engineer of Thakurgaon, was killed when the vehicle belonging to Tentulia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Panchagarh lost control and fell into a ditch on the side of the road. Tentulia UNO Fazle Rabbi (33), upazila social service officer Al Amin (31) and assistant programmer Nabiul Karim Sarkar (30) were seriously injured in this incident.

The accident took place on the Panchagarh-Banglabandha highway in Chekarmari area near Chawai Bridge of Satmera Union of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila at around one in the morning on Saturday. Deceased Abu Saeed is a Pirganj Upazila engineer of Local Government Engineering Directorate (LGED). Before that he was working in Tetuliya. Administration sources said that he had come to Tentulia for a visit yesterday.

The three injured were rescued and first admitted to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital. Later, social service officer Al Amin among them was sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as his condition worsened.

Talking to the police, fire service and local people, it is known that the officials were going towards Panchagarh city in their car along with UNO. At that time, the car lost control and collided with a tree at Chekarmari bend, a little north-west from Chawai bridge on Panchagarh-Banglabandha highway. Then fell into the ditch next to the road. The left side door of the car was detached and various parts were twisted. At that time, engineer Abu Saeed fell from the car and fell to the side and died on the spot. Three others were injured in the car. After receiving information from the local people, police and fire service members rescued the injured and admitted them to the hospital.

Zakir Hossain Molla, Officer-in-Charge of Tentulia Highway Police Station, said that they believe that the accident may have occurred due to excessive speed and the car lost control in the bend. The car was going from Tentulia towards Panchagarh. Preparations are underway for the post-mortem of the dead body.

Panchagarh Fire Service station officer Tushar Kanti Roy said, ‘We got the news of the accident around 1:10 am. Later, we quickly went to the spot and rescued the injured three and brought them to the hospital. Later, the police recovered the body and brought it to the hospital.
