A man was beaten to death in Dhaka’s Shantinagar area last night.
The deceased was identified as Khaled Sheikh, 26, hailing from Madhukhali Upazila in Faridpur.
For all latest news, follow The My News’s Google News channel. Sentu Mia, inspector (investigation) of Paltan Police Station, said they detained several persons on charge of beating a man to death.
“We are investigating the incident,” he said adding filing of a case is underway.
The incident took place around 11:30pm at a building near Eastern Plus Shopping Complex.
Khaled went there after hearing that some security guards of the building held the younger brother of his friend, suspecting him of thievery, said Md Sajib, a family friend.
An altercation took place between him and security guards there and at one stage, around 15 persons assaulted him, leaving him unconscious, he said.
Khaled was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared him dead around 12:30am today, said Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
