At least 296 people have been killed in a 6.8-magnitude Morocco Earthquake. The death toll is expected to rise.
According to the American news media CNN, at least 296 people were killed in Morocco Earthquake yesterday (September 8) at 11:11 pm local time by a strong earthquake of magnitude 6.8.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the earthquake originated near the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. The epicenter was 71 km southwest of Marrakesh at a depth of 18.5 km.
The old city of Marrakesh was the most affected by the earthquake. Many residents are said to be trapped there due to the collapse of numerous houses. Rescuers are conducting a rescue operation.
