Mymensingh journo dies after being hit by train

A local journalist died after a train hit him in Mymensingh’s Gafargoan upazila this noon.

Azim Uddin, 85, was Gafargoan upazila correspondent of Dainik Khobor. He was also president of Gafargoan Press Club, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

The journalist was also former headmaster of Tetulia High School in the upazila.

Quoting locals, Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Government Railway Police (GRP) in Mymensingh, said a Mymensingh-bound train hit Azim while he was waiting beside a level crossing in Rouha area to cross it around 11:15am.

Critically injured Azim was first taken to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex and later referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He died on way to the hospital, said the OC.

Police handed the body over to his family, added the police official.
