Nixon Chowdhury did not get the boat this time either.Mojibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon has been deprived of Awami League’s nomination for Faridpur-4 (Bhanga, Sadarpur and Char Bhadrasan) seats in the 12th National Assembly elections. Kazi Zafar Ullah, a member of the presidium of Awami League and co-chairman of the party’s election management committee, got the boat symbol again in this seat.

Earlier, Awami League presidium member Kazi Zafar Ullah got nomination for Faridpur-4 constituency in the 10th and 11th National Parliament elections. On the contrary, Nixon Chowdhury was elected twice as an independent candidate. Kazi Zafar Ullah, the senior leader of Awami League, was caught by him twice. Independent candidate Nixon Chowdhury won both times. But this time Nixon’s face did not smile. The boat is in the hands of Kazi Zafar Ullah.

The party announced the names of candidates for 298 constituencies in a press conference held at the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi in the capital on Sunday (November 26) afternoon in the 12th National Assembly Elections. Party General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names of the final candidates. Awami League has not given candidates for Kushtia-2 and Narayanganj-5 constituencies. Candidates for these two constituencies will be announced later.

It should be noted that the President of Jasd Hasanul Haque Inu is the current Member of Parliament of Kushtia-2 Constituency. And the current Member of Parliament in Narayanganj-5 Constituency is Salim Osman of Jatiya Party.

Note that Nixon Chowdhury is a presidium member of Awami Jubo League. The president of the party and also a relative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. On the other hand, as senior politician Kazi Zafar Ullah is the co-chairman of the election management committee, many were looking at the possibility of Nixon Chowdhury getting nominated.

Because, the late HT Imam was in charge of the co-chairman of Awami League in the parliamentary elections held in 2009, 2014 and 2018. The former bureaucrat also did not fight in the polls. Meanwhile, Nixon Chowdhury’s relationship with Kazi Zafar Ullah is strained. They also spoke openly against each other.
