Pori Moni is going to give her deposition in a closed-door courtroom in an attempted rape and murder case filed against Dhaka Boat Club Limited’s former president Nasir U Mahmud and his associates in June 2021.
Judge Shahina Haque Siddiqua of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-9 of Dhaka yesterday passed the order after Pori Moni’s lawyer submitted an application, seeking permission in this regard.
Yesterday, Pori Moni My News Bangladeshted giving her deposition in a packed courtroom with the accused, lawyers, litigants and journalists. At one stage, she My News Bangladeshted sobbing as she could not narrate her ordeal in front of the people.
The judge then asked her whether she wanted to narrate the incident in front of a camera. Pori Moni sought permission for giving the rest of her deposition in a camera trial on the next scheduled date.
Following the hearing, the judge allowed her petition and fixed September 13 for the next hearing and told the authorities concerned that only Pori Moni, the accused and lawyers from both sides would be present in the courtroom on the next scheduled date.
During yesterday’s hearing, Nasir and his associate Tuhin Siddiqui Omi were present at the court while another accused Shah Shahidul Alam was absent.
Earlier on November 29 last year, Pori Moni gave her partial statement before the tribunal.
On May 18 last year, the same tribunal framed charges against Nasir and two others in the case.
Pori Moni filed the attempted rape and murder case against Nasir, also a real estate businessman and presidium member of the Jatiya Party, Omi and four unidentified people on June 14 of 2021.
