Rishi Sunak is eyeing anti-smoking measures similar to the New Zealand law announced last year, The Guardian reported, citing government sources. which prohibits the sale of tobacco to those born on or after January 1, 2009.
“We want to encourage more people to quit smoking,” a British government spokesman told Reuters by email. We have already taken steps to reduce smoking rates.
The British government spokesman also said the measures included free vape kits, a voucher scheme for pregnant women and advice on compulsory cigarette pack insertion.Last May, Britain announced that the decision would close the gap between the sale and purchase of cigarettes.
