Russia will provide Bangladesh with renewable energy
In the past, Russia has assured Bangladesh of the availability of renewable energy. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov gave this assurance during a meeting with AK Abdul Momen, the foreign minister of Pakistan, on Thursday (September 7).
It was earlier in the evening that the foreign ministers of the two countries held a bilateral meeting at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital of both countries.
In regards to the meeting, I would like to thank Dr. AK Abdul Momen, who stated that our issue was the Rooppur nuclear power plant. There is no doubt that you will be pleased to hear that it will be launched on time. In addition, Russia will provide Bangladesh with renewable energy for a long time to come. It has been confirmed that such assurances have been received.
Furthermore, he said that Bangladesh will be able to purchase other types of fuel from Russia in the future.
According to Momen, we had a discussion about the Russian-Ukrainian war during our meeting. As I said, we don’t want to go to war. I need a quick solution to my problem.
Earlier in the evening, the Russian Foreign Minister arrived in Dhaka at 6 p.m. As soon as the plane carrying him touched down at Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport in the capital, Bangladesh’s foreign minister welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers. They participated in a photo session at the airport’s VVIP terminal later in the evening.
There will be a courtesy call by Sergey Lavrov on the Prime Minister tomorrow morning, Friday (September 8). It is expected that he will pay tribute to the portrait of Bangabandhu at number 32 of Dhanmondi later on in the afternoon. In the afternoon, the Russian Foreign Minister will leave Dhaka for Delhi in order to attend the G-20 summit, which will be held in India, at 12 noon.
