Suicide bomb attack near mosque in Pakistan kills 34, injures hundreds

At least 34 people have been killed in a suicide bombing near a mosque in Mastung district of Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Another 130 people were injured. Pakistan-based media outlet The Dawn reported that the attack took place on Friday. 

It is said that the bomb exploded in a rally organized on the occasion of Eid Miladunnabi (PBUH) celebration. The deceased policeman is Mastung District Police Officer Nawaz Gashkori. 

Local police officer Mohammad Javed Lehri said the blast was suicide. The injured are being treated at the hospital. Some of them are in serious condition. 

Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Home Minister of Pakistan’s caretaker government, condemned the attack. Balochistan Information Minister Jan Achakzai said that rescue operations are underway at the scene. 

He said that enemies want to destroy religious tolerance and peace in Balochistan with foreign blessings.
