Tank-lorry owners threaten indefinite strike from Aug 1

Bangladesh Tank Lorry Owners’ Association and Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers Distributors Agents and Petrol Pump Owners Association today announced to enforce an indefinite strike from August 1 if their three-point demand is not met by July 31.

They gave the ultimatum at a press conference organised under the banner of Dhaka divisional committee of the organisation at a convention centre in Narayanganj this noon.

Syed Sazzadul Karim Kabul, president of both organisations, read out a written statement on behalf of the organisations where central leaders were also present.

The demands include increasing the economic life of tank lorry used for transporting fuel till 50 years from the existing 35 years, raising commission on sales of fuel to 7.5 percent from the existing 5 percent and issuing a gazette notification in this regard.

Leaders of Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers Distributors Agents, Petrol Pump Owners Association and Bangladesh Tank Lorry Owners Associations, among others, were present at the conference.
