The children accepted the award on behalf of the imprisoned Iranian Nobel laureate

Nargis Mohammadi, the imprisoned Nobel laureate of Iran, has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize by her two children. The award was presented at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway.

Nargis, 51, was selected for the Nobel Peace Prize this year in recognition of her fight against the oppression of women in Iran.Nargis’ two 17-year-old twins, Kiana Rahmani and Ali Rahmani, read out the written statement of the imprisoned mother at the Nobel ceremony.

In the speech written by Nargis from Iran’s Evin Prison, it is said that she has raised the words from the extreme environment of the prison. Like him, many human rights activists in Iran are constantly struggling to survive. The Iranian people will defeat the authoritarian regime imposed on the country by the Iranian government, which has lost public support and legitimacy.

Nargis has been in jail since 2010. So far he has been arrested 13 times. He was sentenced to 31 years in prison after five convictions. He won the Nobel Prize last October. Nargis was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize a year after the death of Iranian teenager Masa Amini.

Nargis is the Vice President of the Defenders of Human Rights Center of Shirin Ebadi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003. So far, 19 women have received the Nobel Prize with Nargis. And Nargis is the fifth Nobel laureate, who received the award while in prison.
