Talks of marriage are already ripe. The dates and dues are correct. All preparations for marriage are complete. But in the meantime, a problem happened. The bridegroom ran away with the dowry money. The bride is shocked by this incident.
Recently, such an incident happened in West Bengal, India. According to Indian media sources, Soleman Ali got married to Pinki Khatun, a resident of Raiganj police station’s Bahin village panchayat. Soleman took 1 lakh 40 thousand taka as dowry.
They were supposed to get married on the 10th of this month. But before that, the groom fled to another state with the money. According to the police, an arbitration meeting was held last Wednesday in the presence of the village head and panchayat members. Soleiman’s family members said that this marriage would not have happened if the dowry of three lakh taka was not paid.
The bride was then asked to lodge a complaint at the police station. On that afternoon, a written complaint was filed against nine people, including the groom and his mother. Raiganj Thana police have started searching for the accused.
Gulbahar Khatun, the mother of the victim, Pinki Khatun, said, I collected money with great difficulty. I gave Rs. 40 thousand taka to my son six months ago. But three days before the wedding, they said that they would need another lakh and 60 taka.
