The new Vice-Chancellor of DU is Professor Maqsood Kamal My News Bangladesh

Professor ASM Maksud Kamal has been appointed as the 29th Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University. Earlier he was serving as the Vice-Chancellor (Education) of the university. He will take charge as the Vice-Chancellor from November 4.

According to Article 11 (2) of the Dhaka University Order, 1973 with the approval of the President and Acharya on Sunday (October 15), Professor of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience Department Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University. The Ministry of Education has issued a notification in this regard.

Maqsood Kamal has been serving as Vice-Chancellor (Education) of Dhaka University since June 2020. Professor Maqsud Kamal joined the Department of Geology of Dhaka University as a lecturer in March 2000. He was promoted to the rank of professor in the same department in 2010. Before joining the university, he worked as a scientific officer at the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization (SPARSO) for about six years. Maqsood Kamal is an expert in earthquake and tsunami and urban disaster management.

The conditions under which the appointment is made

A. His Excellency the President and Chancellor can cancel this appointment at any time if necessary.
b. In this position he will be entitled to the same amount of emoluments as his present position.
c. He will enjoy other benefits pertaining to the post as per rules.
d. He will be permanently stationed on the University campus as the Chief Executive Officer of the University.
