The United States calls on all parties in Bangladesh to exercise restraint. The United States has called on all parties in Bangladesh to exercise restraint and avoid violence in view of the upcoming elections. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller made this call in response to questions about Bangladesh at a press briefing in Washington on Wednesday night.

In response to the question regarding the allegations of campaigning using artificial intelligence in Bangladesh ahead of the election, Matthew Miller said, “We have seen alarming news of campaigning with false information in the election. This is part of a worrying trend of using artificial intelligence around the world to influence democratic practices.

Matthew Miller said, ‘We call on the government of Bangladesh to create an environment so that everyone can freely participate in all the processes before the elections without fear of any kind of violence. We believe that in a strong democracy, everyone has the opportunity to speak freely and exchange views.

A question was raised in the press briefing whether the United States will impose sanctions on Bangladesh or not before the next elections. In response, Matthew Miller said the United States never prejudges sanctions.

The spokesperson of the US State Department avoided such a question in the briefing whether the US will call for BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to be sent abroad.
