Train Collision Kills 3 in Police Car

Three law enforcement officers lost their lives as a result of being struck by a train in the Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong. Additionally, two other Law Enforcement officers and a Union Parishad (UP) member sustained injuries in the incident. The tragic occurrence transpired in the Fakirhat vicinity of Salimpur Union within the upazila at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Abu Saeed, the Inspector of Investigation at Sitakundu police station, has officially confirmed that three individuals have tragically lost their lives in the aforementioned accident.

Tragedy strikes as police car collides with train, leaving one dead and four injured

Deputy Inspector Samiur Rahman of Faujdarhat Police Outpost, who was present at the scene, informed Prothom Alo that at approximately 12:30 PM, a Law Enforcement patrol team from Sitakunda police station was en route to apprehend the accused, accompanied by a local UP member.

While crossing from the west to the east side of the railway line, their vehicle became immobilized. At that moment, a Chittagong-bound train departing from Dhaka collided with the police car, resulting in the instantaneous death of Constable Rahman. Four additional Law Enforcement officers and UP member Shahadat Hossain sustained injuries in the incident and were subsequently rescued and transported to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for medical attention.

According to Sub-Inspector Nurul Alam of Chittagong Medical College Law Enforcement Outpost, three people died in the accident. One person died immediately, while the other two were taken to the hospital but were declared dead by the doctor on duty.”I have left for the spot,” said Tofail Ahmed, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station
