Information Minister said, ‘When Ziaur Rahman gave away the remainder of power to BNP, the leaders of various parties gathered to take the remainder like crows. They are political crows. When the eyes of foreign vultures fell on the country, the politicians became their allies. They look at foreigners.’
The minister said these things in the contemporary context in the speech of the chief guest at the prize distribution and felicitation ceremony of the cultural competition organized by the Chittagong North District Bangabandhu Shishu-Kishor Mela at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in the port city of Chittagong on Saturday (October 21).
Hasan said, ‘Will the BNP start the downfall of the government on the 28th? On December 10 last year, it wanted to start the downfall of the government from the front of the Nayapaltan office, it died in Golapbagh cow market.
He said, ‘BNP will start its downfall again against the government and drown in Yamuna or Buriganga river. And if done in Chittagong, it will be drowned in Karnaphuli river or Bay of Bengal. Actually BNP wants to have a big picnic on 28th. We will send them from the picnic to Buriganga by boat, inshallah.’
Besides highlighting the identity of his party, the information minister said, ‘Awami League is the party of the people and the streets. Awami League was born to fight against misrule. For 21 years, we fought against the dictatorship from the opposition party with stones tied to the chest. We know who to deal with on the streets.’
We know how much they will protest those who wear burqa and appear in the High Court to take bail, enter the pit in someone’s velki, go to the rally and have a picnic,’ he said.
The information Minister once again criticized the BNP on the Palestine issue. Hasan said, “The killing of children in Palestine, the killing of 800 people in a bomb attack on a hospital, the killing of 18 people in an attack on a church, when the whole world is protesting crimes against humanity every day, the BNP does not say anything thinking that the ‘vultures’ might be unhappy.” Even if the ‘vultures’ loot all the country’s wealth, the BNP will remain silent. They dream of running the country again. The country cannot be handed over to them. The country must be protected from them.’
Minister Hashan said, ‘Bangabandhu loved children very much. Child Sheikh Russell was brilliant and humane. You have heard that in the speech-discussion of Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina. We want a developed state, at the same time we want to build a humane state. We don’t want a state where expensive cars drive on the road and no one looks back at a helpless person on the side of the road.
