The Palestinian independence movement Hamas launched a rocket attack on Tel Aviv in response to Israeli airstrikes targeting civilians in two Gaza refugee camps.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Tel Aviv expressing solidarity with Israel. Hamas launched the rocket attack after he landed in Tel Aviv on Thursday (October 12).

According to news agency AFP, in an SMS message sent to journalists, Hamas said, “Members of the Al Kashem Brigade launched a rocket attack on Tel Aviv.” This attack was carried out in response to the Israeli attack on al-Shati and Jabalia refugee camps.

Hamas interior ministry spokesman Yad al-Buzum told AFP that Israeli forces carried out massacres in Al-Shati and Jabalia camps this morning (Thursday). As a result, many people were injured.

Meanwhile, after the sudden attack by Hamas in Tel Aviv, an official traveling with Blinken told AFP that tomorrow (Friday) in Amman, Foreign Minister Blinken will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and King Abdullah II of Jordan.
