Jewelers have increased gold prices to a historic high of Tk 101,243 per bhori, which will take effect tomorrow.
Each bhori, or 11.664 grams of 22-carat gold jewelry, is currently priced at Tk 99,027.
According to a press statement from the Bangladesh Jewellers Samity (Bajus), the price increase is due to the rise in the price of pure gold.
For the first time in the nation, the price of gold surpassed Tk 1 lakh, or Tk 100,776 per bhori, on July 20. The price then dropped to Tk 99,027, or below Tk 1 lakh, on August 17.
