The court once again extended the deadline for submission of investigation report in the murder case of journalist couple Sagar Saroar and Mehrun Rooney. Due to this, the deadline was extended 104 times.
According to court sources, RAB Additional Police Superintendent Khandkar Md. Shafiqul Alam, who is the investigating officer of the case, failed to submit the report today, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Shafiuddin fixed the date of November 16.
On September 11 this year, the same court asked the RAB to submit the investigation report by today.Earlier, two separate courts had expressed displeasure over the investigation and failure of investigators to uncover the motive behind the killings and arrest the real culprits.
Sagar, message editor of private TV channel Machranga, and his wife Rooney, senior reporter of ATN Bangla, were murdered in the early hours of February 11, 2012, in their rented flat in West Rajabazar of the capital.The next day, Rooney’s brother Nowsher Ali Roman filed a case at Sherebangla Police Station as the plaintiff.
